PAINTED
LETTERING on BOATS
|
| On the next
three pages are photos of boats with lettering that has been painted on.
Most names are painted with a brush. On
HALCYONE the kingfisher
bird is brush
painted. For the letters I cut and applied a masking material. Then the
letters were sprayed with gold paint. With this process the lettering can be
done in a tougher polyurethane paint. It is the same paint that the hull is
painted with and the two bind together.
Metallic "gold" paint that can be brushed on only lasts a few years. It has powdered brass in it which slowly tarnishes to a mellow brown color when exposed to salt water. Gold spray paint or gold vinyl will last longer. The gold vinyl is described and shown on the Boat Vinyl page and the Vinyl Colors page. |
